Since 1997 I have assisted landlords and large property management companies in minimizing debt on the back end when the tenant leaves. I have isolated 9 key areas where landlords can improve their property management skills to reduce the possibility of a tenant leaving owing a balance. Most of the articles I write have something to do with one or more of these key areas. One critical area where many landlords could do a better job is tenant screening. I believe there is a direct correlation between poor tenant screening and excessive tenant debt. Some of the advise I give is how to better screen potential tenants.
As in most businesses, some tenant debt is inevitable. When a tenant leaves owing a balance I advise landlords on the best way to attempt to collect the debt.
